Big Bash : Jacques, Birt, Rana set up Hurricanes' 42-run win over Sixers

Hosts Hobart Hurricanes defeated Sydney Sixers by a thumping margin of 42 runs in yesterday's Big Bash League match at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. A solid 107-run stand for the 2nd wicket between opener Phil Jacques (73 from 55 balls with 6 fours and a six) and Travis Birt (65 from 41 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes) took the Hurricanes to a healthy total of 169 for 3.

In their run-chase, Sydney Sixers were wrecked completely by Pakistani pacer RanaNaved-ul-Hasan who took 4 for 22. Off Spinner Jason Krejza who opened the bowling took 2 for 20 in his four overs. Sydney Sixers were restricted to 127 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs with the top score of the innings being a modest 33 from one down batsman NicMaddinson. Travis Birt of the Hobart Hurricanes got the Player of the Match award ahead of Jacques and Naved-ul-Hasan.
